Customer Summary - Version 3.0 | August 2026
812 Garratt Lane, Tooting, London SW17 0LZ
Company Registration No. 11839572 | Member of the Fine Art Trade Guild
This is a concise summary of our key trading terms. It should be read alongside the Posterhaus Ltd Full Trading Terms & Conditions, which contain the detailed provisions applying to orders. A copy of the Full Terms is available on request and should be made available alongside this summary on our website. Nothing in either document affects statutory consumer rights.
1. Orders, Quotes and Payment
Quotes are valid for 30 days. Most framing is bespoke and made to the Customer’s specification. A deposit may be required when an order is placed; the amount may vary according to the order, materials and value of the Artwork. The remaining balance must be paid in full before or at collection unless a written credit arrangement has been agreed.
2. Changes and Cancellations
Bespoke or personalised goods are generally excluded from the standard cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Once materials have been ordered or manufacture has commenced, an order cannot normally be changed or cancelled. If we agree to a change or cancellation, reasonable costs already incurred may be payable.
3. Timescales and Materials
Completion dates are estimates unless a specific deadline has been agreed in writing. Natural and hand-finished framing materials may show variations in grain, shade, texture and finish, and exact matches between samples or batches cannot always be guaranteed.
4. Artwork, Stretching and Mounting
Posterhaus will exercise reasonable professional care when handling Artwork. Customers must tell us about known fragility, previous restoration, damage or significant value. Canvas stretching and dry/wet mounting carry inherent risks; we will exercise reasonable care and skill but cannot guarantee that hidden weaknesses or unavoidable process-related changes will not occur.
5. Existing Frames, Packaging and Personal Property
Unless the Customer asks us to retain them before work begins, old frames, glazing, mounts, backing materials, fittings and packaging may be recycled or disposed of. Customers must remove receipts, certificates, cash, electronic media and other personal belongings or documents from Artwork and packaging. Items inadvertently left are at the Customer’s risk, subject to liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
6. Hanging Fittings
Where we supply hanging fittings, they are selected as reasonably appropriate for the completed frame. The Customer is responsible for choosing suitable wall fixings and for safe installation appropriate to the wall construction.
7. Five-Year Workmanship Warranty
Posterhaus provides a five-year warranty on workmanship. It does not cover fair wear and tear, accidental damage, misuse, unsuitable installation, abnormal environmental conditions, inherent Artwork deterioration, reasonable natural timber movement or third-party component failure not caused by our workmanship. Statutory rights are unaffected.
8. Artwork Insurance
Eligible Artwork accepted under a formal framing order may qualify for limited Artwork Insurance while in our custody. Customers must disclose significant value and Artwork valued at £1,000 or more must be brought to our attention. Standard cover is limited to a maximum Declared Value of £2,500 per item. Proof of value may be required. Items above £2,500 should be separately insured unless enhanced cover is arranged with us in advance.
9. Collection, Absence and Storage
Completed orders should be collected within four weeks of notification. Storage charges of £5.00 per day may apply after four weeks unless otherwise agreed. Customers expecting to be away or unable to collect for one month or more must tell us in advance wherever reasonably possible. Large items may require off-site storage at the Customer’s reasonable cost.
10. Uncollected Goods
Where work remains uncollected, we will make reasonable efforts to contact the Customer. After reasonable notice, uncollected goods may be sold or disposed of where permitted by law to recover outstanding charges, storage and reasonable costs.
11. Privacy, Liability and Governing Law
We process personal information in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Nothing in our terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricts statutory consumer rights. Our terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Full Terms: The Posterhaus Ltd Full Trading Terms & Conditions (Version 3.0) contain the complete provisions governing orders and are available on request and alongside this summary.
